4 Months Old

I will probably start off each month by saying this, but I CAN'T BELIEVE that Tristan is now 4 months old! On Thursday Tristan was 4 months. Yesterday he got to go to the doctor for his nice little 4 month checkup. It is kinda sad that we get to celebrate with shots!!! Tristan was such a trooper, as always. The doctor came in and she was checking his weight, length etc and then she checked his head (how stable it is) his grip strength, his smiling and cooing, his body strength and a few other things. She told us that if she never knew he was born 2 months early, she would argue with us because he is right on track for a full term 4 months old child. PRAISE GOD! As they were charting him in his folder they said that he was in the 25% for weight and 10% for length. This is based on him being a full term baby. If he is charted based on being a 2 month old (his adjusted age for the preemie thing) he is in the 75% for weight. She said that he also looks so chunky because he is short.

weight- 13 lbs 12 oz (he has tripled his birth weight!)
length- 22 inches

We were happy with everything at the doctors office yesterday (with the exception of a crying baby from sore legs...) Tristan is happy, healthy, and we have God to thank for this little miracle!

Memorial Day Weekend

For Memorial Day weekend, Ryan and I took Tristan to my Granddaddy's beach house for the weekend. My parents went as well and we had a GREAT time! I was SO excited to see how Tristan would react to the beach. Ryan and I love to be on/at the water and I certainly love to spend long days on the beach. Tristan also seems to really enjoy being outside. He took two nice naps on the beach and he chilled out like a little old man in his chair just watching the waves roll in. He is so funny to watch! We managed to keep him sunburn free (Praise God) and he was so well behaved. While we were in Duck, NC, we also had the luxury of eating at my two favorite restaurants. The first night we went to Henry's which is where I got to indulge in my favorite shrimp. The next night we ate at the Duck Deli where they sell the worlds best wings! MMmmmm.....

We had a wonderful weekend! I am so glad we were able to spend it with my parents. Now I only have to survive 15 more days of work and I will get to spend everyday home with my favorite boys. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Getting ready for the boat!!!

Ryan and I share one thing in common during the summer months. We LOVE to spend time on our boat together. Ryan loves to wakeboard and does really well with it. I love to do it but I surely can't say I do well with it! I just like relaxing on the water... Having said all of this, we want Tristan to share our enjoyment for the water and boating. Although he will not (very frequently) be on the boat THIS summer, we wanted to go ahead and get a life jacket just to make sure we are ready if he does go for a few hours with us. I got the best deal off of Ebay. Gotta love Ebay! The day it came in, we HAD to try it on him. He is such a trooper! You will agree when you look at the pictures! We laughed forever over the pictures... Enjoy!

First Mother's Day

Saturday night we met my parents in Midlothian for dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. It was so yummy! We wanted to spend some time with my mom (and dad) for Mother's day. It was great to be able to just sit and relax and enjoy a good meal with my parents. Tristan enjoyed hanging out with Grammee and Granddad as well. I love my mom so much and I do not know where I would be without either of my parents. I certainly am grateful for such wonderful parents who love me regardless of my bazillion flaws and who are there for me through everything. Happy Mother's Day, Mom!!

Every year, our church does a special little "ceremony" or thank you to all moms in the congregation. Every year for the past 3 years I have thought, "Maybe next year I can stand up with them." I finally got to be included in the "Mother's Day" recognition. Although this year it was not to stand up, I did get to raise my hand to receive my pen and bookmark that the children were passing out. Yea!

I'm reminded how blessed I am to have been chosen to be a mother. I realize that all moms are chosen to be mom's, and they are certainly blessed as well, just as we are blessed to have them but I feel extra blessed that I have been trusted with Tristan to be his Mommy, eventhough I did not carry him for 9 months (well... 7... lol). God is good and thanks to Him, I will forever be a Mommy. The word Mommy still seems strange... but I love it! I think I will love it 100X more when Tristan can actually say it :)

To make the day even better, Ryan had a friend of ours sketch a picture of Tristan. It is so perfect. I woke up to feed Tristan at 5 am Sunday morning. Tristan sleeping until 5 was a gift in itself! When I walked in to get him, the picture was framed and matted and was propped up sitting on the changing table. Ryan is such a great husband!!! He certainly did not have to get me a gift, but the gift he did get was perfect! I will attempt to insert a picture of it.

Rolling Over

Tristan has been rolling over for awhile now from his belly to his back. I just love the way he flops on over then gets so excited when he realizes what he does. I had to insert this video more for my own safe keeping than anything else... enjoy :) Side note... you may want to mute it to ignore my voice ;)

back to work...

April 30th, I went back to work. I had planned on going a week and a half earlier, but Ryan and I decided for me to stay out a little longer :) That is time that I will always remember being here with Ryan and Tristan while I was home.Now that I am back to work, I feel like I was never out for 10 weeks!!! Time flew by, my students grew 10 feet and 5 new teeth a piece, but nothing else has changed. Things seem to flow like they did before I left. Now I just want to race home to see my two favorite boys :) 5 more weeks until summer and I will be a happy mamma!!
